Cleaning Solutions
LIQUID ANTIBACTERIAL SOAP (Softsoap, Dial)
STERILE SALINE SOLUTION (not multipurpose) OR NON-IODIZED SEA SALT MIXTURE.
To MIX Sea Salt: Dissolve 1/8-1/4 teaspoon or non-iodized sea salt into one cup (8oz) of warm distilled, or bottled, water.
NOTE: A TRONGER SOLUTION IS NOT BETTER!!! SALINE SOLUTION THAT IS TOO STRONG CAN IRRITATE THE PIERCING!
The DOs
1 Wash your piercing twice a day with liquid antibacterial soap and warm water. Be sure to rinse thoroughly.
2 A cotton swab or cotton ball may be used to clean excess crust around the piercing. Warm water will help break the crust without pulling the piercing or the skin.
3 Soak with sterile saline solution or sea salt mixture using a small cup, gauze, or sterile cotton ball for about ten minutes.
4 After soaking, rinse thoroughly to remove all residue. Cry with paper towels or gauze. Cloth towels harbor bacteria and way catch on the piercing. Be gentle to avoid trauma!Do this 2-3 times per day until the area loses all redness and appears healed.
NOTE: WASH HANDS THOROUGHLY BEFORE TOUCHING ANY NEW PIERCING. TRY NOT TO TOUCH THE PIERCING AS IT HEALS. CONSTANT MOVEMENT WILL ONLY SLOW THE HEALING PROCESS AND INCREASE CHANCES OF INFECTION.
The DON'Ts
Do not swim in pools, lakes, oceans, hot tubs, or any body of water during the healing time.
Do not touch piercing with dirty hands!
Do not weartight fitting clothing over area. Wear clean, comfortable clothing.
Do not USE ALCOHOL, PEROXIDE, NEOSPORIN, OR ANY OTHER OINTMENTS TO HEAL PIERCING.
Do not ROTATE DURING HEALING PROCESS! Te crust can get inside the unhealed skin and lead to infection.
Do not over-clean. This can cause irritation, dryness, and prolonged healing.
Do not wear makeup or other beauty products around pierced area. This area needs to be clean do it may heal properly.
Avoid stress and recreational drug use, including CAFFEINE, NICOTINE, and ALCOHOL.
Do not engage in oral contact, rough play, or other sexual activities which put body fluids near your healing piercing.
Do not take baths unless tub is thorouhgly cleaned before each use. Bathtubs harbor bacteria that could lead to infection
Do not sleep in unwashed bedding. Be sure that sheets are cleaned regularly to prevent bacteria from contaminating your piercing.
Do not take ASPRIN or TYLENOL. ONLY USE IBUPROFEN, ADVIL, MIDOL, OR OTHER ANTI-INFLAMMATORY.
Normal Healing

  • Bleeding, localized swelling, tenderness, or bruising soon after piercing procedure
  • During healing some discoloration, itching, secretion of a whitish-yello fluid (not pus) will form crust on and around the jewelry. Clean this with the cleaning instructions before moving the piercing to prevent infection.
  • Piercing may seem healed before healing is complete. This is because piercings heal from the outside in. The inner tissue is still fragile. BE PATIENT and continue to clean piercing during the entire healing period.
